>> On March 1st, Maie Hiromu, Iino Osami, Nakatani Ryo and Aoi Teruhiko formed Japan’s first Idol group capable of dancing in addition to singing, Johnny’s. Idol groups that sung and had dancing at the forefront of their performance was a field that no one had paid much attention to in show business.
With this, the musical genre of idol group Johnny’s was established. This genre, that was unrivaled, swept over the world of television.
>>“The way Johnny&Associates works is that they make you enter the entertainment world and while you don’t really know what you are supposed to be doing they make you go up on stage. The lessons can wait, you just have to be seen. At that point you’re already living your dream so you can’t stop to improve. It might be hard to believe but I’ve never taken dancing, singing and acting lessons that were actual lessons. Johnny-san just taught me about staging a bit and I also learned it from Four Leaves. But that was done in the dressing rooms, backstage, always in a hurry. And then I would have to just pop on stage. It’s an out-and-out way of gaining experience, practice over theory. While working, you come to master a number of things. I think that gaining experience is important. It’s a weird example but, people who have had real fights are stronger than those who have only been trained. By gaining experience you get used to it and you are able to get the hang of things as well as being into it. Work is a place where you don’t have any time so it doesn’t take much time to master how to get things done. Johnny-san’s way of doing things is thoroughgoing. Even if it’s just one more experience, he makes us do it.” (Go Hiromi “Tatta Hitori” Shougakukan)
